PET JAR & Preforms

                                     Pet Preform suppliers
PET JAR & Preforms is subject to various types of degradations during processing. The main degradations that can occur are hydrolytic, thermal and, probably most important, thermal oxidation. When PET Preform suppliers degrades, several things happen: discoloration, chain scissions resulting in reduced molecular weight, formation of acetaldehyde and cross-links ("gel" or "fish-eye" formation). Discoloration is due to the formation of various chromophoric systems following prolonged thermal treatment at elevated temperatures. This becomes a problem when the optical requirements of the polymer are very high, such as in packaging applications. The thermal and thermooxidative degradation results in poor processibility characteristics and performance of the material. One way to alleviate this is to use a copolymer. Comonomers such as CHDM or isophthalic acid lower the melting temperature and reducedegree of crystallinity of PET Preform suppliers (especially important when the material is used for bottle manufacturing). Thus the resin can be plastically formed at lower temperatures and/or with lower force. This helps to prevent degradation, reducing the acetaldehyde content of the finished product to an acceptable (that is, unnoticeable) level. See copolymers, above. Other ways to improve the stability of the polymer is by using stabilizers, mainly antioxidants such as phosphites. Recently, molecular level stabilization of the material using nanostructured chemicals has also been considered.

PET bottle recycling

                                  Pet preform suppliers
The success of any Pet bottle recycling concept is hidden in the efficiency of purification and decontamination at the right place during processing and to the necessary or desired extent.Generally, the Pet Preforms following applies: the sooner foreign substances are removed, in the process, and the more thoroughly this is done, the Pet Preform suppliers more efficient the process is.The high plasticization temperature of PET in the range of 280°C is the reason why almost all common organic impurities such as PVC, PLA, polyolefin, chemical wood-pulp and paper fibers, polyvinyl acetate, melt adhesive, coloring agents, sugar and protein residues are transformed into colored degradation products which, in their turn, might release reactive degradation products additionally. Then, the number of defects in the polymer chain increases considerably. Naturally, the particle size distribution of impurities is very wide, the big particles of 60–1000 µm—which are visible by naked eye and easy to filter—representing the lesser evil since their total surface is relatively small and the degradation speed is therefore lower. The influence of the microscopic particles, which—because they are many—increase the frequency of defects in the polymer, is comparable bigger.

PLASTIC BLOW MOLDING

PLASTIC BLOW MOLDING (also known as blow moulding or blow forming) is a manufacturing process by which hollow plastic parts are formed. In general, there are three main types of blow molding: extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding, and stretch blow molding. The blow molding process begins with melting down the plastic and forming it into a parison or preform. The parison is a tube-like piece of plastic with a hole in one end in which compressed air can pass through.
The parison is then clamped into a mold and air is pumped into it. The air pressure then pushes the plastic out to match the mold. PET preforms manufacturers in india Once the plastic has cooled and hardened the mold opens up and the part is ejected.
blow molding has been recently demonstrated under pressures and temperatures comparable to PLASTIC BLOW MOLDING. This technique allows molding BMGs with an about 50 times higher strength than plastics into shapes that were previously not achievable with crystalline metals.

PET Preform pet is hygroscopic, meaning that it absorbs water from its surroundings. However, when this 'damp' PET Preform pet is then heated, the water hydrolyzes the PET Preforms, decreasing its resilience. Thus, before the resin can be processed in a molding machine, it must be dried. Drying is achieved through the use of a desiccant or dryers before the PET Preform suppliers is fed into the processing equipment.Inside the dryer, hot dry air is pumped into the bottom of the hopper containing the resin so that it flows up through the pellets, removing moisture on its way. The hot wet air leaves the top of the hopper and is first run through an after-cooler, because it is easier to remove moisture from cold air than hot air. The resulting cool wet air is then passed through a desiccant bed. Finally the cool dry air leaving the desiccant bed is re-heated in a process heater and sent back through the same processes in a closed loop. Typically, residual moisture levels in the resin must be less than 5 parts per million (parts of water per million parts of resin, by weight) before processing. Dryer residence time should not be shorter than about four hours. This is because drying the material in less than 4 hours would require a temperature above 160 °C, at which level hydrolysis would begin inside the pellets before they could be dried out.PET Preform petcan also be dried in compressed air resin dryers. Compressed air dryers do not reuse drying air. Dry, heated compressed air is circulated through the PET pellets as in the desiccant dryer, then released to the atmosphere.

PET SPRAY BOTTLES

A PET SPRAY BOTTLES is a bottle that can squirt, spray or mist fluids. A common use for pet spray bottles is dispensing cool cleaners, cosmetics, and chemical specialties. Another wide use of pet spray bottles is mixing down concentrates such as pine oil with water. The actual spraybottles web site lists all kinds and sizes of pet spray bottles including custom printed PET SPRAY BOTTLES. The first trigger sprayer manufacturer was named AFA. An interesting note is that there is only one trigger sprayer manufacturer remaining in the US.
Unlike the rubber bulb dispenser which primarily moved air with a small amount of fluid, modern PET preforms manufacturers in india use a positive displacement pump that acts directly on the fluid. The pump draws liquid up a siphon tube from the bottom of the bottle, and the liquid is forced out a nozzle. Depending on the sprayer, the nozzle may or may not be adjustable, so as to select between squirting a stream, aerosolizing a mist, or dispensing a spray.
The dispensing is powered by the user's efforts in a PET SPRAY BOTTLES, as opposed to the spray can, in which the user simply actuates a valve, and product is dispensed under pressure, using a liquid that gasifies at room temperature and pressure such as propane/isobutane blends or Freon, or pressured gasses such as nitrous oxide or ordinary air.

Long polymer chains tend to become entangled on themselves, which prevents full crystallization in all but the most carefully controlled circumstances. PET is no exception to this rule; About 60% crystallization is the upper limit for commercial products, with the exception of polyester fibers. Besides, about 60% crystalline polymer about 40 % of the polymer chains remaining amorphous. Therefore PET is commonly called a semi-crystalline polymer.

PET is transformed several times as it goes form PET pellet to preform. As a resin pellet, Pet Preforms is thermally crystallized to a level of 50% to 70% and PET appears white. During injection process, these crystals are melted, resulting in an amorphous melt, which is injected into preform mold cavities. Pet Preforms is clear and has a little strength or barrier properties. In the reheat stretch blow machine the material is forced by stretch rod and blow air to orient in axial and hoop direction forming small, strain-induced crystals. The bottle turns out clear and has higher strength or barrier properties. There are one ways of producing PET preform/bottle: one-stage “hot preform” method and two-stage “cold preform” method. The One-Step method -- from PET granule to finished bottle -- all processes are completed within one integrated machine. This means the injection-molded preform is taken off from the injection cavity while still hot enough to be stretch blown to form the bottle. No extra heating is required, and since preforms are freshly molded every time, there is no risk of surface damage during storage or transportation. Besides, there are many other advantages such as energy saving for reheating is not required; high productivity as cooling and reheating are not necessary; no pollution as human hand is out of reach. One-Step method is highly suited to small and medium scale production lines.

THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER

Polycarbonates, known by the trademarked names Lexan, Makrolon, Makroclear and others, are a particular group of THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER. They are easily worked, moulded, and thermoformed. Because of these properties, polycarbonates find many applications. Polycarbonates do not have a unique plastic identification code and are identified.
THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER is a very durable material. PET preforms manufacturers in india Although it has high impact-resistance, it has low scratch-resistance and so a hard coating is applied to polycarbonate eyewear lenses and polycarbonate exterior automotive components. The characteristics of polycarbonate are quite like those of polymethyl methacrylate , but polycarbonate is stronger, usable in a wider temperature range but more expensive. This polymer is highly transparent to visible light and has better light transmission characteristics than many kinds of glass.
THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER has a glass transition temperature of about 150 °C (302 °F), so it softens gradually above this point and flows above about 300 °C (572 °F). Tools must be held at high temperatures, generally above 80 °C (176 °F) to make strain- and stress-free products. Low molecular mass grades are easier to mould than higher grades, but their strength is lower as a result. The toughest grades have the highest molecular mass, but are much more difficult to process.

INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM

INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM machines consist of a material hopper, an injection ram or screw-type plunger, and a heating unit. They are also known as presses, they hold the molds in which the components are shaped. Presses are rated by tonnage, which expresses the amount of clamping force that the machine can exert. This force keeps the mold closed during the injection process. PET preforms manufacturers in india  Tonnage can vary from less than 5 tons to 6000 tons, with the higher figures used in comparatively few manufacturing operations. The total clamp force needed is determined by the projected area of the part being molded. This projected area is multiplied by a clamp force of from 2 to 8 tons for each square inch of the projected areas. As a rule of thumb, 4 or 5 tons/in2 can be used for most products. If the plastic material is very stiff, it will require more injection pressure to fill the mold, thus more clamp tonnage to hold the mold closed. The required force can also be determined by the material used and the size of the part, larger parts require higher clamping force.
With INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM, granular plastic is fed by gravity from a hopper into a heated barrel. As the granules are slowly moved forward by a screw-type plunger, the plastic is forced into a heated chamber, where it is melted. As the plunger advances, the melted plastic is forced through a nozzle that rests against the mold, allowing it to enter the mold cavity through a gate and runner system. The mold remains cold so the plastic solidifies almost as soon as the mold is filled.
The plastic INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM industry has evolved over the years from producing combs and buttons to producing a vast array of products for many industries including automotive, medical, aerospace, consumer products, toys, plumbing, packaging, and construction Molding or moulding is the process of manufacturing by shaping pliable raw material using a rigid frame or model called a pattern.

PLASTIC ENGINEERING

PLASTIC ENGINEERING encompasses the processing, design, development, and manufacture of plastics products. A plastic is a polymeric material that is in a semi-liquid state, having the property of plasticity and exhibiting flow. Plastic PET preform manufacturers in india The nature of plastic materials poses unique challenges to an engineer. Mechanical properties of plastics are often difficult to quantify, and the plastics engineer has to design a product that meets certain specifications while keeping costs to a minimum.
In PLASTIC ENGINEERING, as in most engineering disciplines, the economics of a product plays an important role. The cost of a plastic product is measured in different ways, and the absolute cost of a plastic material is difficult to ascertain.
Some plastics are manufactured from re-cycled materials but their use in engineering tends to be limited because the consistency of formulation and their physical properties tend to be less consistent. Electrical and electronic equipment and motor vehicle markets together accounted for 58 per cent of engineered plastics demand in 2003. Engineered plastics demand in the US was estimated at $9,702 million in 2007.

Lower cost, higher quality and productivity, and the potential for lightweighting beyond anything yet seen are benefits claimed for a new continuous compression molding process for making  Pet preforms. The Preform Advance Molding  process was introduced at the recent K 2007 show in Dusseldorf by Sacmi Imola S.C. of Italy. It’s still too early for PAM to offer a serious challenge to injection molding. By next month, Sacmi plans to have built two machines for in-house development use and hopes to commercialize the system in the second half of this year. While potentially fomenting a battle between injection and compression molding for the preform business, SACMI has a foot in both camps. Its PAM system is an outgrowth of its established machinery for continuous compression molding of beverage-bottle caps and other closures, which now can turn out up to 100,000 caps/hr. On the other hand, Sacmi recently established a PET division to offer complete preform manufacturing systems encompassing injection presses from its Negri Bossi subsidiary (which now incorporates two other Italian press makers with preform experience, Oima and BM Biraghi), as well as Negri Bossi robots and Sacmi’s preform molds and vision inspection systems.

PLASTIC ITEMS

A plastic material is any of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic organic solids used in the manufacture of industrial products. Plastics are typically polymers of high molecular mass, and may contain other substances to improve performance and/or reduce production costs. Monomers of plastic Items are either natural or synthetic organic compounds.
The word plastic is derived from the Greek πλαστικός (plastikos) meaning capable of being shaped or molded, from πλαστός (plastos) meaning molded. It refers to their malleability, or plasticity during PET preforms manufacturers in india, that allows them to be cast, pressed, or extruded into a variety of shapes—such as films, fibers, plates, tubes, bottles, boxes, and much more.
The common word plastic should not be confused with the technical adjective plastic, which is applied to any material which undergoes a permanent change of shape (plastic deformation) when strained beyond a certain point. Aluminum which is stamped or forged, for instance, exhibits plasticity in this sense, but is not plastic in the common sense; in contrast, in their finished forms, some plastics will break before deforming and therefore are not plastic in the technical sense.
There are two types of plastics: thermoplastics and thermosetting polymers. Thermoplastics are the plastics that do not undergo chemical change in their composition when heated and can be moulded again and again; examples are polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).Thermosets can melt and take shape once; after they have solidified, they stay solid.
The raw materials needed to make most plastics come from petroleum and natural gas.
Plastic Items is polluting the oceans. There are an estimated 46,000 pieces of plastic per square kilometre of the world's oceans. Much of it is concentrated in a gyre of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean called Great Pacific Garbage Patch, killing a million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals yearly.

Every injection mold must therefore be a self-contained unit, i.e., it must not be made of parts that are required for other injection molds. Parts or groups of parts that are loaded or borrowed often disappear or are need elsewhere just when the injection mold is scheduled for use.

polyethylene terephthalate bottles(PET) is one of the most commonly used food grade packaging plastics due to it's chemical inertness and appealing physical properties. as with most plastics PET is derived from oil and is formed by a polymerisation reaction between an acid and an alcohol. its initial uses were as a synthetic fibre with excellent wash and wear properties as well as a substrate for video, photographic and x-ray film. as its use grew PET preforms manufacturers in india was modified for application in injection moulded and extruded products, and in the early 1970's the first three dimensional structures were produced by blow moulding techniques, initiating the rapid adoption of PET as a material for beverage bottles. Its properties as a lightweight, tough material with excellent optical properties and adequate gas barrier performance for the retention of PET bottles are manufactured by the process of injection stretch blow moulding (read more at http://www.bpf.co.uk) which was developed specifically to maximise the beneficial properties of PET.
The majority of the world's PET production is for synthetic fibers (in excess of 60%) with bottle production accounting for around 30% of global demand. In discussing textile applications, PET is generally referred to as simply "polyester" while "PET" is used most often to refer to packaging applications. The polyester industry makes up about 18% of world polymer production and is third after polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

PET PLASTICS EXTRUSION

PET Plastics extrusion is a high volume manufacturing process in which raw plastic material is melted and formed into a continuous profile. PET plastic extrusion produces items such as pipe/tubing, weather stripping, fence, deck railing, window frames, adhesive tape and wire insulation.
In the extrusion of plastics, raw thermoplastic material in the form of small beads is gravity fed from a top mounted hopper into the barrel of the extruder. Additives such as colorants and UV inhibitors are often used and can be mixed into the resin prior to arriving at the hopper.
Extrusion coating is using a blown or cast film process to coat an additional layer onto an existing rollstock of paper, foil or film. PET preforms manufacturers in india this process can be used to improve the characteristics of paper by coating it with polyethylene to make it more resistant to water. The extruded layer can also be used as an adhesive to bring two other materials together. A famous product that uses this technology is tetrapak.
Feed zone. Also called solids conveying. This zone feeds the resin into the extruder, and the channel depth is usually the same throughout the zone.
Melting zone. Also called the transition or compression zone. Most of the resin is melted in this section, and the channel depth gets progressively smaller.
Metering zone. Also called melt conveying. This zone, in which channel depth is again the same throughout the zone, melts the last particles and mixes to a uniform temperature and composition.

PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING

Plastic injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Material is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold cavity.[1] After a product is designed, usually by an industrial designer or an engineer, molds are made by a moldmaker (or toolmaker) from metal, usually either steel or aluminum, and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part. Injection molding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest component to entire body panels of cars.
An Injection molding machine, also known as an injection press, is a machine for manufacturing plastic products by the PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING process. It consists of two main parts, an injection unit and a clamping unit.
Injection molding machines can fasten the molds in either a horizontal or vertical position.PET preforms manufacturers in india The majority of machines are horizontally oriented, but vertical machines are used in some niche applications such as insert molding, allowing the machine to take advantage of gravity. There are many ways to fasten the tools to the platens, the most common being manual clamps  however hydraulic clamps and magnetic clamps are also used. The magnetic and hydraulic clamps are used where fast tool changes are required.
The sequence of events during the injection mold of a plastic part is called the injection molding cycle. The cycle begins when the mold closes, followed by the injection of the polymer into the mold cavity. Once the cavity is filled, a holding pressure is maintained to compensate for material shrinkage. In the next step, the screw turns, feeding the next shot to the front screw. This causes the screw to retract as the next shot is prepared. Once the part is sufficiently cool, the mold opens and the part is ejected.

PET PLASTIC PACKAGING

PET PLASTIC PACKAGING is the science, art, and technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale, and use. Packaging also refers to the process of design, evaluation, and production of packages. Packaging can be described as a coordinated system of preparing goods for transport, warehousing, logistics, sale, and end use. PET PLASTIC PACKAGING contains, protects, preserves, transports, informs, and sells. In many countries it is fully integrated into government, business, institutional, industrial, and personal use.
Packaging may be described in relation to the type of PET preforms manufacturers in india product being packaged: medical device packaging, bulk chemical packaging, over-the-counter drug packaging, retail food packaging, military materiel packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, etc.
* Primary packaging is the material that first envelops the product and holds it. This usually is the smallest unit of distribution or use and is the package which is in direct contact with the contents.
* Secondary packaging is outside the primary packaging, perhaps used to group primary packages together.
* Tertiary packaging is used for bulk handling, warehouse storage and transport shipping. The most common form is a palletized unit load that packs tightly into containers.

                                       PET Preforms
These days, varied PET bottle designs are in great demand, cost effective, qualitative, and reckoned all over the world. One of the two methods is a pressure PET Preforms bottle such as filling the bottles of carbonated beverage and second one is the non-pressure bottle like oil, tea and filling water bottles. With the advancement in production scale and technology, it has been noticed that molding industries in India has taken a new way. Moreover, the equipment production capacity has seen a rapid progress as compared with prior records of manufacturing. It is believed that now the capacity lies between thousands bottles per hour to ten thousands bottles per hour. The best advancement in this field is that the former manual work has been replaced by the computer systems. This has lower down all the difficulties arising in the process and results in greater constancy and suitableness. The procedure PET molding affects various factors such as environment and surroundings through its blowing system. Depending on the positive and negative merits, PET preforms material and molding process should be chose with uttermost attention and care. According to experimental outcomes, the same viscosity of PET preform molding material can require the distinctive technology of blow molding. The major requirement to preform the materials is to make them pure, transparent. The material should not contain any impurity and there should be no different color nimbus in the region of injection point.

PET-PELLETS FOR BOTTLES AND A-PET

This process is, in principle, similar to the one described above; however, the pellets produced are directly (continuously or discontinuously) crystallized and then subjected to a solid-state polycondensation (SSP) in a tumbling drier or a vertical tube reactor. During this processing step, the corresponding intrinsic viscosity of 0.80 – 0.085 dℓ/g is rebuild again and, at the same time, the acetaldehyde content is reduced to < 1 ppm.
The fact that some machine manufacturers and line builders in Europe and USA make efforts to offer independent recycling processes, e.g. the so called PET-PELLETS FOR BOTTLES AND A-PET bottle-to-bottle(B-2-B) process, such as URRC or BÜHLER, aims at generally furnishing proof of the "existence" of the required extraction residues and of the removal of model contaminants according to FDA applying the so called challenge test, PET preforms manufacturers in india is necessary for the application of the treated polyester in the food sector. Besides this process approval it is nevertheless necessary that any user of such processes has to constantly check the FDA-limits for the raw materials manufactured by himself for his process.

BOTTLE PROCESSING EQUIPMENT

There are two basic molding methods for PET bottles, one-step and two-step. In two-step molding, two separate machines are used. The first machine injection molds the preform, which resembles a test tube, with the bottle-cap threads already molded into place. The body of the tube is significantly thicker, as it will be inflated into its final shape in the second step using stretch blow molding.

In the second step, the preforms are heated rapidly and then inflated against a two-part mold to form them into the final shape of the bottle. PET preform manufacturers in india are now also used as containers for candy, and by some Red Cross chapters to distribute to homeowners to store medical history for emergency responders.

In one-step machines, the entire Bottle processing equipment from raw material to finished container is conducted within one machine, making it especially suitable for molding non-standard shapes (custom molding), including jars, flat oval, flask shapes etc. Its greatest merit is the reduction in space, product handling and energy, and far higher visual quality than can be achieved by the two-step system.

                                       PET Preforms
this is a the PET bottle because it will not have those physical properties for which the PET has been introduced as economical alternative to the conventional packaging like glass or tin. Worldwide, the PET Preforms buyers market is growing in a phased manner. It started with still and solid filling application to carbonated cold pressure filling application to the hot filling application. In India we are in the mid phase. Unless we perfectionate ourselves in still filling, its still a long way to handle CSD and hot fill products.PET bottle blowing  was referred to as a bottle converter and then become processor and now bottle manufacturer. In manufacturing a great deal of process engineering is involved because the PET bottle blowing doesn't follow the versatile logic. Concept of blowing varies for size and shape of container, preform material, process followed for injection moulding and filling application. Few vital processes involved are designing and selection of preform, verification of bottle design and mould, process of heating the preform, concept of blowing, analysis of bottle defects, method of checking the bottles quality and retention of preform and bottle.

                                                          PET Preforms
In India, the PET bottle blowing Polymer Engineering and Stretch Blow Moulding technology were initially introduced at lower profile. Commonly used synonym for PET Preforms container today is 'water bottle', the one that basically has a use and throw application. The cost of the bottle today is virtually three times that of the product (mineral water) cost. This leads to the belief that PET bottle blowing processing ought to be a low profile business with low cost of feasibility. While the paradox is, the cost of PET resin is one and half times that of conventional plastics resin cost. In the minds of the plastic manufacturer, it has been imbibed that, the raw material is costlier and the filling application is for the cheapest product on the earth i.e. water. This is the very reason the bottle processors were skeptical about the viability of PET project and hence opted for the low tech, lowest cost machineries and equipments.A well accepted fact today is that the PET bottle blowing technology is virtually introduced in every packaging application but still PET processors have to stick up with fallacy of water bottle processing techniques and the outdated blowing equipments. With time, resin prices are also on decreasing trend, glass industries are closing down, every day new products are being introduced in PET, concept of packaging in tin has become obsolete; considering these facts and the faster rate of market growth in this sector, its high time to realize the importance of stretch blow molding's PET product quality. In India, one tends to underestimate the outstanding properties of PET. This has developed the unbalance in the market of quality bottle demand to quality bottle supply ratio. We are still pretending to supply quality PET bottle at low cost with low profile incompetent blowing equipments. The fact is that, all these old tech equipments are at zero depreciation however they cannot be scrapped out because the growth potential of PET processing business is being underestimated. Sooner the better, because consequently the user market is developing the thinking that getting quality bottle in PET is very difficult task and thinking to turn back to older option. This is the major fact that needs to be realized by existing and upcoming PET bottle blowing processors. At the outset, PET is the complex material in the family of polymer. It evolves a great deal of elastic and plastic thermal behavior. When we refer to the comparatively simple and economical two-stage conversion process, the through thickness heating of the preform is the crux of the process. Since PET has very poor heat conductivity the conventional induction heating process doesn't work at all. Infact, improper method of heating of PET preform is the root cause of substandard bottle quality. The PET blow forming process is based on time and temperature dependence. Advance heat transfer engineering and sophistica-ted electro-pneumatics system is only capable of converting scientifically heated preform into quality PET bottles. High blowing pressure is the essential part for achieving desired strength in blown bottle. But this is not the PET bottle because it will not have those physical properties for which the PET has been introduced as economical alternative to the conventional packaging like glass or tin. Worldwide, the PET market is growing in a phased manner.

                                                          PET preforms
Nowadays PET is still widely used for these purposes, but when, in the 1970s a marketing need was identified for larger light-weight, unbreakable bottles to contain carbonated drinks, PET Preforms it the bill perfectly. Unlike simple polymers such as polyethylene, PET Preforms is not made by a single stage process, but by the reaction between two chemicals, purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glycol (EG). The availability of the first of these has dictated the supply of PET resin in the past, but new capacity coming on stream this year will ensure more than adequate supplies to meet the growing uses of PET over the coming years. Related polyesters are polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) used mainly for engineering applications, and polyethylene naphthalate (PEN). The latter offers significant performance improvements over PET, particularly in terms of barrier properties and heat tolerance. Since PEN can be blended with PET a range of new 'alloys' is becoming available for special packaging applications. As PET (bottle grade) is a kind of transparent, wear-resisting and corrosion-resisting plastics with high strength and smooth finish, it is widely used for PET bottles of mineral water, juice, edible oil, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc.PET is linear thermoplastic (long-chain molecule consists of repeating units shown as figure right), white but bluish resin made from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol through poly-condensation. PET is supplied by the resin manufacturers in the form of small pellets, each about 0.05 gram. PET came into prominence in the 1950s as a textile material. Its strength, temperature tolerance and wear-resistance made it an ideal replacement for, or addition to natural fibers such as silk, cotton and wool.It has good antiosmosis, low water absorbability and good toughness. PET film's tensile strength is similar with aluminum film's, and is three times that of PC and PA film. PET film is transparent. It's tensile strength can reach 1/3~1/2 of steel's if dealed by oriented draw. It's the toughest thermoplastic film. It will be burnt with yellow flame and will burst when burning. And it will continue burning when away from fire.

POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE PRODUCTION

PET-P, is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber.
Depending on its processing and thermal history, PET preforms manufacturers in india may exist both as an amorphous (transparent) and as a semi-crystalline polymer. The semicrystalline material might appear transparent (particle size < 500 nm) or opaque and white  depending on its crystal structure and particle size. Its monomer (bis-β-hydroxyterephthalate) can be synthesized by the esterification reaction between terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol with water as a byproduct, or by transesterification reaction between ethylene glycol and dimethyl terephthalate with methanol as a byproduct. Polymerization is through a polycondensation reaction of the monomers with water as the byproduct.
The majority of the world's PET(POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) production is for synthetic fibers (in excess of 60%) with bottle production accounting for around 30% of global demand. In discussing textile applications, PET(POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) is generally referred to as simply "polyester" while "PET" is used most often to refer to packaging applications. The polyester industry makes up about 18% of world polymer production and is third after polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).
